Joe
Race was a policeman for 45 years in Los Angeles, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Micronesia,
Kosovo and Bosnia, and most recently on Saipan with the Attorney General's Office.
He was able to practice his police skills in riots, forest fires, earthquakes, floods,
major drug rings, barricaded assailants, drunk celebrities, and crooked politicians.
He finally had to retire when the bank robbers and pimps were easily outrunning
him. He teaches Criminal Justice at the local college, and passes on his knowledge
and "war stories" to the young, enthusiastic students.
Joe enjoys the islands and lives on Saipan with his wife and three children. He's
also exploring a new area called Siquijor Island in the Province of Dumaguete,
Philippines for designing an energy efficient dream-house. When he's not building
or beach-combing, he's usually "talking story" with the old-timers under the shade
of a red flame tree (Royal Poinciana) and making notes.
There are many, beautiful attractions in Micronesia; e.g., fresh water jelly fish
without stingers in Palau, artifacts and remnants of World War II in Pelieu, Guam,
Tinian and Saipan, the world-famous diving cave The Grotto, Lover's Leap on Guam,
high waterfalls on Pohnpei, Banzai Cliff and Suicide Mountain on Saipan, great golf
courses on Saipan and Guam, luxury and eco-friendly hotels everywhere, and cheerful
Chamorro and Carolinian residents intermingled with Japanese, Chinese, Koreans and
Americans.
Come for a memorable visit to Paradise, and enjoy the sandy beaches - the warm,
pristine islands await your smile. Maybe Joe will show you around!
